We are here to answer your question; just what are the best aprés ski spots for couples in Queenstown?

When thinking of aprés ski, what comes to mind? For some it might be cheap drinks, rowdy EDM, shooting horrible tasting liquor off a shotski with a bunch of strangers and waking up the next day to rinse and repeat. For others it may be bundling the kids into the car and heading somewhere for a quiet wind-down drink and some food, and for others it's about finding those romantic vibes to enjoy with your special someone. Luckily for you, Queenstown has a little something for everyone and that includes all you lovebirds looking for the best aprés experience for setting a romantic mood.

1. Bardeaux

After a long day up the mountain, grab a drink, settle in and snuggle up with your lover in front of the fireplace. Don't let the size of this place fool you, what it lacks in capacity it sure as snow makes up for in its drink's menu! A huge variety of wines, spirits, cocktails and beer are available as well as some of the best cheese boards in town! Don't know what to order or looking to try something new? Have a chat to the friendly staff as they are always happy to share their recommendations and suggestions. It's worth leaving the mountain a little before last lifts to make sure you beat the crowds and enjoy this place before it becomes more lively and packed later in the eve.

3. Sherwood

If there is one place in Queenstown that was created from love, Sherwood would have to be it. The team behind this place are all so passionate about what they do and you can't help but feel the warmth and love when you first step through the doors! There are plenty of nooks and crannies to escape to and you never really feel like you are sharing the space with others (unless you want to). The way Sherwood is designed makes it the perfect spot to return to after a day full of snow-filled fun and activities. 4. Wakatipu Grill

Home to the famous (or infamous, due to how easy it is to sip away many lazy hours) 'Pinot Pit'! An outdoor firepit/sunken lounge space that looks out over Lake Wakatipu, this stunning spot is located at the Queenstown Hilton Resort and oozes romance. The drinks menu is large, the bartenders are amazing, the snack food is delicious and it's only a two minute detour on your way back to town from the Remarkables ski resort, so why wouldn't you?! Like we mentioned, stay warm and snug by the outdoor fire or head inside to the bar to enjoy an intimate drink in the stylish setting. The Wakatipu Grill also opens for dinner in the evening so why not make a romantic night out of it and wine and dine at one of Queenstown's top restaurants. Almost too conveniently, the Queenstown Water Taxi runs a service that will take you right from the restaurant back to Queenstown central (and a few other stops along the lake) so you can really enjoy the eve without having to worry about driving back to your accommodation at the end of the night.

5. The Blue Door

This Blue Door is not only a great spot for an after ski drink but is also one of Queenstown's (technically Arrowtown's) coolest hidden bars! Tucked away in a small alleyway underneath Arrowtown's Dorothy Brown's cinema, the Blue Door is a spot you don't want to miss. This bar is so small that on a busy night the bar staff crawl in and out of the bar through the side window as all other exits are fast blocked by the guests. Wednesday nights offer a great open-mic style live music show with local and visiting performers sharing their talents. This does happen to be one of the busier evening so if you are looking for the more intimate and romantic vibes, check in on one of the quieter evenings during the week.

6. Jack's Point Clubhouse

This spot is definitely worth the slight detour to experience. Like Bardeaux, we recommend leaving The Remarkables Ski Field before last lifts as the clubhouse closes its doors at 4pm during the winter months (except Fridays when it's open for dinner), making it a perfect after ski venue if only spending a half-day up the mountain. Nestled at the bottom of The Remarkables mountain range, the Jack's Point Clubhouse offers a warm and relaxed setting for a hot or cold drink and some delicious food. The clubhouse looks out over a small picturesque lake and on a blue-bird day is well worth sitting outside to enjoy the peace and tranquility. If you really want to step up the romance, grab one of the lounges or tables by one of the many wood burning fireplaces and settle in for the afternoon.
